This self-produced live instrumentation Go-Go project stands as a deeply personal and poignant narrative—a coming-of-age story and a cautionary tale about the trials of growing up in the inner city. With unflinching honesty, JS reflects on the battles faced to escape the confines of his environment, while grappling with the complex emotions of survivor’s remorse.
From the very first track, “CRABS IN A BARREL” featuring Dave East, JS sets a gritty tone. The song paints a vivid picture of the economic struggles and everyday challenges faced in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area. Meanwhile, “WHO KILLED MOE“—a powerful collaboration with Lil Wayne, Styles P, and Jadakiss—turns the DMV catchphrase “Kill Moe” into a thought-provoking anthem that examines the causes of senseless violence within the community.
Balancing gravity with moments of celebration, JS delivers standout tracks like “GREAT FALLS“, featuring Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, and Juicy J. This infectious, feel-good anthem exudes playful energy with a catchy chorus and call-and-response vocals. The album is dedicated to the late Cornelius “Neal” McDonald, a beloved advocate for youth empowerment and mental health, and a prominent figure in Go-Go culture, whose legacy lives on through this project.
